Home Improvement Needs :: Kitchen Replacement Doors Kitchen Replacement Doors:Installing Replacement Cupboard Doors for Your KitchenCabinets take a lot of abuse and they can quickly get dated, hence the need for kitchen replacement doors. A simple replacement job can keep your kitchen looking fresh and new without the expense of installing a completely new cupboard system. Installing kitchen replacement doors is fairly simple, but you need the patience and attention to detail to ensure the doors are hanging straight, operate well and are evenly spaced from one another. For a step by step guide on how to install new kitchen cupboard doors, keep reading. Step 1 – Attach the Hardware First Start by attaching the hardware to your door. Affix rear hinges to the back of the door, approximately 2 inches from the bottom and the top. If a door is taller than two-and-a-half feet, use three hinges that are evenly spaced. Step 2 – Mark a Reference Line Run a line of masking tape along the top of your cupboards. This straight line will help you make sure the tops of each cupboard door are lined up as you install each one. Step 3 – Mark your Hinge Location Take your first door and position it over the opening, lining the top up with your masking tape reference line. Then, mark your top hinge location on the actual cupboard, using chalk or masking tape. Step 4 – Drill Pilot Holes Open up the door hinges and then position the door against the cupboard frame, lining up the hinges with your hinge markings. Then, drill your pilot holes into the cupboard frame, which will let you anchor the hinges to the cupboard frame with your mounting screws. Once the door is anchored, you can remove the masking tape. When you're drilling the pilot holes for your hinge hardware and screws, make sure you don't drill all the way through the entire door. Step 5 – Attach Handles and Cosmetic Hardware Finally, attach all the door knobs and handles, including any door catchers. Before you start, protect all your kitchen replacement doors with a soft cloth, and try to clamp each one into an upright position. Clamping them up while you attach the hinge hardware can prevent scratching or excessive force causing cracks in the wood. All Articles for Home Improvement Needs
