Home Improvement Needs :: Antler Lighting Antler Lighting:Using Antler Lighting and More in Rustic Decor
Custom Search
Antler lighting, log furniture and other rustic decor can be a great way to furnish your cabin if you want to have a traditionally styled country cabin or hunting cabin. Antler Lighting While it may be a somewhat garish lighting fixture in another setting, antler lighting can be quite charming in a cabin. It is very evocative of the woodsy setting that a lot of cabins are in, and if nothing else can be a nice conversation piece in your house. A lot of stores that focus on rustic decor sell antler lighting, but there are also do-it-yourself kits on the market for making your own antler lighting. Log Furniture Furniture made with a log motif is a pretty standard find in country and south western design, and looks really wonderful in a cabin setting. You can find log furniture for pretty much any room in your house. If you don't want to go whole hog with the log motif and have the frames of all your couches or beds look like the frames of a log cabin, there are nice woodsy touches you can add to your house that, while just as natural, are a little less austere. Coffee or kitchen tables made out of the roots or stump of a tree and varnished to a high shine can be a beautiful centerpiece, leaving you to use more contemporary and comfortable furniture around it. Having a high shine wooden table under antler lighting, for example, would bring just the right amount of homespun charm to an otherwise modern room. Wall Decor One easy way to bring the outdoors indoors at your cabin would be to decorate your walls with wildlife artwork. From photos of animals in the wild, to mounted fish that you've caught there are lots of ways to add rustic touches to your home. For the bold at heart, you could even go so far as to use wires to hang an antique canoe to your ceiling, or use vintage paddles and oars as art work. Wood Carvings Another way to personalize your space is to incorporate wood carvings into your decor. If you have a favorite animal, you can find carvings and figurines that add to the natural feel of your space, while celebrating the animals that you love. This works very well if you are creating a space that you want to have the design sensibilities of a lodge. You could have carvings and art featuring moose and elk, featuring antler lighting that ties the room's theme all together. See also: All Articles for Home Improvement Needs
